While doing some last minute shopping on Christmas Eve a man has a magical experience. He watches a child preparing to get on Santa’s lap through a shop window and is reminded about a special Christmas memory. When the child gets down Santa makes eye contact with the man and they are immediately taken back to a moment they had shared (in his past). So the story unfolds as he stares through a window of time at a Glimpse from Christmas Past.
“Charming Christmas Children’s book”
Five Star Review on Amazon By M. Coyle
A GLIMPSE FROM CHRISTMAS PAST by D. C. Donahue is an adorable read. Your children or grandchildren will love this book, mine sure do. It is such a cute story for kids to read or even better for you to read to them. A young father, on Christmas eve, sees the REAL Santa Claus through a department store window and Santa recognizes him. The dad relates his memory of a night when he encountered Santa for the first time. When this father was a boy, he actually MET and shared a magical visit with Santa Claus, and this is that story.
Before the dad becomes the little boy, and is shopping in the city, I definitely recognized the city of Philadelphia…city hall with William Penn on top, Broad Street, a Septa bus and taking the train, the mummers and more. Readers will surely see their city as well, because the story rings so true for anyone who grew up, or is growing up, in or near a city.
The beautifully colored illustrations on every single page will delight the children in your family. A GLIMPSE FROM CHRISTMAS PAST lightened my heart with so many joyful things like Santa and his sleigh landing on the roof, the boy having a conversation with Santa Clause at his kitchen table, and the kids celebrating Christmas. This is a book we will reread every Christmas season as one of our favorites. It’s as magical as the snow falling on Christmas eve. I wholeheartedly recommend A GLIMPSE FROM CHRISTMAS PAST.
About the Author
I spent most of my grade school days in SW Philadelphia during the wonder years. We moved to its western suburbs just prior to H.S. where I met and married my wife, Nancy. We raised four children and currently have seven grandchildren who were the inspiration behind writing…’A Glimpse from Christmas Past” So follow your dreams!
I attended Catholic grade school (Most Blessed Sacrament through mid 7th grade graduating from St. Andrews in Drexel Hill, Pa). I graduated from Upper Darby High School class of 74 and attended St. Joesph’s University. I got the bug to write after taking an English Comp and Literature course at that time. My wife and I still live, work, play and pray in the same community we raised our four children.
I am a proud member of SCBWI (Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators), as well as, ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers). My first book, A Glimpse from Christmas Past, (ISBN# 9781481740289) is a delightful holiday story that captures the magic and the true meaning of Christmas. It is a book the whole family can enjoy and will cherish for years to come.
My latest book “Keira in the Mirror”, was published earlier this year.
We all take pause when we catch sight of ourselves in a shop window, mirror etc… Keira is a most curious child and this story is about her journey of self discovery through her reflection everyday objects.
We hope that both books find a place in your hearts, homes and bookshelves. Thanking you in advance.
