About the Author

My name is Peace Adetoro, l was born in Manchester 52 years ago. I am a Christmas Eve baby so, l have always considered myself a very special person. I have lived an ordinary life so far. I did the normal things like finish high school, college and university but l dropped out in my second year has a law student to have my second child. It was my intention to finish university but, real life got in the way. My son was diagnosed with autism so, it was merely impossible to juggle university and an extremely hyperactive child.

Writing this book is a great achievement for me because l wouldn’t really class myself as an intellectual. I am not one to be able to stay focus on one thing, l always have my figures in many pies. I started creating sickle cell awareness back in 2013 and l have skydived, swam with sharks, ran a five and ten thousand mile race all in aid of sickle cell awareness. I have also organised two separate events to promote sickle cell awareness.

The idea to write my first book came about sitting watching Eastenders a British soap. I wanted the drama to include the storyline of a child with sickle cell anaemia so, l wrote the script only to be told that the soap only uses their own writers. I was so disappointed because l spent so much time writing the script. I thought to myself, what am I going to do with all this material? That’s when l got the idea to turn the script into a book. Four years later, l am now the proud author of a book. I still can’t believe it.
