Again, Alabama by Susan Sands
Cammie Laroux is back in Alabama—again. Dragged back to her small town to help her mother recover from surgery while rescuing the family event planning business should be a cinch. Cammie Laroux is back in Alabama—again. Dragged back to her small town to help her mother recover from surgery while rescuing the family event planning business should be a cinch. Even for a disgraced television chef, right? Wrong. Among the many secrets Cammie’s family’s been hiding is the fact that their historic home is falling down. Oh, and the man hired to restore the house, Grey Harrison, is the same high school and college love of her life who thrashed her heart and dreams ten years ago. Yeah, that guy. Grey, a widower with a young daughter, has never stopped loving Cammie, and when they are face to face once again, the chemistry is off the charts. Cammie may be in full-blown denial, but letting go is no longer in Grey’s vocabulary, even when winning Cammie’s forgiveness and renovating their love may seem like an impossible build even for a master architect and carpenter. As Cammie finds herself forgetting all the reasons she can’t trust Grey or love again, he finds himself remembering all the reasons he wants her to stay with him in Alabama… forever.
” A second chance to love!”
Five Star Review on Amazon By sgalley
Cammie Laroux has returned to her home in Alabama to help out after her mother has back surgery. Since she is between jobs and because she has wicked chef and organizational skills, she is the perfect candidate to help get the family catering and event venue business, Evangeline House, back to its former glory. She does not know that on this mission of mercy she will be slapped in the face with her devastating past.
Grey Harrison broke Cammie’s heart ten years ago, and she has just recently put her life back together, gotten engaged and put the past in her review mirror. On her first day home, she is face to face with Grey. He has been hired by her mother to renovate the declining family home. Will she be able to hold it all together and face the past that she has spent ten years running from? The result of his betrayal with her best friend is standing right in front of her in the form of his daughter, Samantha. How is she supposed to deal with this? Why should she have to?
I am a sucker for second chance romance. I love the angst that goes with past misunderstandings and righting the wrongs from bygone days – especially when the protagonists are older and wiser. That is the case with AGAIN, ALABAMA – but the betrayal by Grey was hard for me to accept at the beginning of the book. I HATE cheating – for whatever perceived excuse, so I spent the first half of the book not feeling the love for Grey. Cammie has enough going on in her life right now. She should not have to have to deal with this. She is engaged to Jason and is moving on with her life…or is she?
The story of Grey Harrison and Cammie Laroux is heart wrenching and poignant. After finishing this book days ago, I’m still thinking about the story. I loved the opportunity to meet Cammie’s family. The secondary characters are so much fun. They make the reader feel like you are there and a part of the family.
Cammie and Grey both have very real issues that make it hard for them to pursue a relationship. The chemistry between them is strong, but the obstacles seem to be stronger. Cammie is a very engaging heroine. I also loved her siblings. They were so loving and protective. I hope they get their own stories someday.
Susan Sands’ writing style is powerful. She pulls you into the story, and doesn’t let go until the last word…actually, not even then. You will still be feeling it days after the story ends. AGAIN, ALABAMA is a heartwarming story of family and a second chance at love. It was a sweet narrative of love and loss and loving again. I liked it – and recommend!
