All in a Row: Book 2 in the John Keegan Mystery Series

by John Misak (Author)

Keegan races to stop a copycat killer, but danger strikes close.

Book Description:

The second in the John Keegan Mystery series pits the detective against a possible copycat killer. The investigation stalls when Keegan realizes the killer might be close to him.

Someone’s killing young women in New York City. Each murder seems just like the last. The media calls it the beginning of a ‘Serial Summer’. Fresh from the case that nearly ended his career, NYPD Homicide detective John Keegan is thrust into a series of murders looking more and more like the workings of a serial killer, or a copycat. It’s the last thing anyone wants. Keegan must fight the temptation to rule out the serial angle while at the same time hoping it’s all coincidence.

Pressure comes from several areas. One of the victims is the granddaughter of a powerful Senator who follows Keegan’s work throughout the case. The mayor fears the murders will affect his successful anti- crime initiative. Keegan’s boss, passed over for a promotion, is eager to put this case to rest and secure a position higher up in the department.

Keegan’s partner seems troubled and disengages himself from the investigation, forcing Keegan to make rash decisions about the case and his partner. When the killer strikes close, new suspects arise and a cop will end up in handcuffs. The killer not only knows how to elude capture, they know the police and their moves. They also play the game of blackmail perfectly.

Before he solves the case, Keegan will be forced to analyze everything about his life and the people he loves.

We have a mutual friend named Vinnie. He gave me your first book years ago. I loved it. Recently I got a kindle and purchased ALL of your books. I'm on Time Stand Still now. You are a creative author. The best books are the ones that read as if the character is talking to you. Never EVER stop writing (mostly because I'm awaiting your next book..lol). Seriously though, everyone's a critic, but not everyone is talented enough to write.

Mysteries always interested me, but I never thought I could write them. I tried several different genres (all with terrible results) hoping to find something that worked for me. Then, on a whim, I took a chance and wrote a murder mystery. Soft Case represents that first attempt, and it was published, much to my surprise. It’s been a great ride since then, and I hope to keep writing. My desire is to entertain. There are great mysteries out there by fantastic writers, but I found that sometimes, the genre can feel dreary. I think that a little humor and some slice-of-life situations can really help keep readers involved, so I incorporate them when I can. Sometimes I use personal experience, but most of it comes out of my head. That scares people close to me. They may have a reason. Though I write other series and under different names, the John Keegan character remains my favorite. We’ve grown together and I enjoy writing from his perspective. I hope to keep his stories coming. I write for the love of it and hope that comes through in the work. I always welcome reader feedback, and you can find my contact info at the back of my books, or by visiting johnmisak.com.
