Five Star Review on Amazon by Dede Fox

Weaving multiple subplots in Backyard Volcano, Kathryn Lane skillfully draws the reader into the story of Patricia, the protagonist, and her journey from childhood in southern Texas to adulthood in Mexico. Her grandmother’s mysterious life and tales about the Paricutin volcano mesmerize Patricia, but her abuela dies when she’s fifteen. Years later as a research fellow in volcanology, Patricia returns to her grandmother’s home town near Paricutin and discovers sinister information about her grandmother’s life. As Patricia seeks to unravel the mysteries, both old and new, she takes us on a riveting ride of intrigue and intensifying danger.

Also included in the anthology are surreal short stories with a heightened sense of mystery and ghost-like qualities. Readers won’t want to put this one down.
