Author Sylvia Edmondson-Holt shares her personal experience as a southern, over protected young African-American woman who has to deal with the environment of the real world once leaving the sterile confines of the Promise Land community. She details her struggles and her strong determination to overcome them all in her book, Between the Pews.
Born in a peaceful southern community during the Civil Rights era, Edmondson-Holt was so well-protected from the Jim Crow laws, and racism that she is hardly prepared for life beyond this sterile environment. This protective shield is finally broken when she gets out of her safe haven. The author tells a moving, thrilling and often touching story of how she dealt with life beyond this place.
Through great determination, she rises above the many issues she faced while dealing with marriage, raising her children and struggling to grow up herself.
