A romantic story with a supernatural twist, Beyond the Ghost Pavilion tells of Jenny, a Scottish woman of Chinese descent who is haunted by the ghost of a female victim of infanticide in China. In her quest to fulfil family loyalties, Jenny leaves Scotland for China where she unintentionally evokes the ghost’s evil side. When it follows her back to Scotland intent on ruining her future marriage to a Scottish laird, Jenny must find out why she is being haunted and what she must do to free herself and stop the ghost from harming her fiancé.
Reviews for the Book
Beyond the Pavilion is a good read and if you are skeptical about ghosts, this book eases you in as the author skips adeptly between the ghost's story and the romantic story, which develops in the Scottish Highlands. The story takes the reader to China, where the main character discovers her roots and then back to Scotland where the love story develops albeit with major interference by the ghosts. I eagerly turned the pages but was kept in suspense right up until the end. This is the author's first novel so I can't wait to read the next one. - Sally Charnley
