Blood Runner by J. D. Stanley
He’s cranky, he’s old, and just wants to be left alone…
He’s lived through the rise and fall of kings and empires since Sumer while the gods kept watch. A healer by trade, he struggles between the blood stealing nature that’s kept him animate while also compelled to protect humans. But he’s not human. He’s the Blood Runner, unwitting source of myth.
A vampire story, but at the same time not at all. Definitely not what I was expecting going into it. Good blend of history and the modern day and you can never go wrong with some realistic pirates – loved those. Worth the read.
