“Living At Flashpoint”
Five Star Review on Amazon By Doceft
This was a clearly written “How to” description of combined principles of Theater Arts and Spirituality. It is one thing to talk about a process in the abstract, but quite another to detail that process in ways your audience can understand.
I specifically liked the Author’s determination to envelope the reader (me) in the realization that presenting oneself in theater and performing is exactly what we do in everyday life.
When you decide to perform before an audience, do you not use the same interpersonal skills present in that medium in business or with your friends and family?
The simple answer is – of course. Mary’s book provides a clear path to make that transition – and to paraphrase the title…sustaining it.
Finally, I found Mary’s anecdotes and quotations extremely helpful in getting her message across. For those in the Performing Arts, I highly recommend Mary’s work – as a “textbook” if you will, on how to construct and sustain oneself in the theater.
For everyone else, it’s simply a great read!
About the Author
Born in California, I have been performing on stage and for the camera and teaching theatre, acting, voice, speech and movement for a combined 32 years. I received my Master’s in performance from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts; I’m a Certified Lessac Kinesensic© Trainer, a Licensed Spiritual Practitioner with the Centers for Spiritual Living, a professional actor and Mother of two amazing daughters.
My passion and purpose is to use my talent as an actor and teacher to free and empower the creative spirit in myself and others.
In addition to family and teaching, I love to cook – I make a wicked Mac & Cheese! I love being outdoors, the beach or the mountains and I’m a big fan of botanical gardens. I also deeply enjoy coloring books – mandala coloring books are my favorite, they provide a beautiful creative meditation practice. I enjoy playing guitar, the Djembe drum, piano and singing Burt Bacharach songs.
That’s it for now. If you have any questions about my book, please feel free to be in touch!
