Florida author William F. Brown has penned ten suspense novels, four collections of the Vietnam War experiences, and four award-winning screenplays. His specialty is thriller stories that step into the arena of espionage – a very popular topic at this particular time. William is a native of Chicago, received undergraduate and graduate degrees from The University of Illinois, and served as a Company Commander in the US Army. He then raveled widely in the US and abroad as a Vice President of the real estate subsidiary of a Fortune 500 corporation. William is also a landscape artist. BURKE’S MANDARIN is Book 5 of the Bob Burke (former sniper, Army Ranger, and Delta Force commander) Action Adventure series, as we have come to expect, Brown opens the story with a strong mood – in Afghanistan – ‘One AK-47 round and then two more ricocheted off the surrounding rocks, forcing Ace and me to take cover behind several of the larger boulders on the side of the narrow trail. We had been on it since early morning. After being inserted on another hill yesterday, we had worked our way around the other side of the mountain and spent the night in a ravine uphill from a half-dozen mud huts where Intel said a Mullah and two Taliban tribal leaders on our list were having a sit down…We took them out, and what appeared to be a Russian officer, just after dawn. They didn’t like that. Neither did their numerous black-clad cousins…’ This fifth installment in the series is outlined as follows: ‘A Chinese spymaster in DC stealing US Special Ops war plans, a nest of Chinese agents inside Fort Bragg, a Chinese Navy task force headed into the South China Sea to create mischief, and they just shot up Bob Burke’s new pickup truck. Trouble’s brewing in Sherwood Forest, and it isn’t a pot of green tea. Mild-mannered and slight of build, this telecommunications company executive is easily dismissed as the "phone guy." But after four tours running 'special operations' missions in Iraq and the rugged mountains of Afghanistan as an Army Ranger and Delta Force commander, he's one of the most lethal killers the US government ever produced. A young Chinese American Captain’s family is under the gun and there’s little the Army or the FBI can do about it, when The Ghost gets the call, he and ‘Ace’ Randall don't hesitate. Time to bring out the Barrett .50 caliber sniper rifles, turn The Geeks loose, and call in some Delta pals from Fort Bragg. This time, a possible world war is at stake in the South’ Few writers today match Bill’s style with thriller on a contemporary stage. He never lets us down, and this book is especially strong. Mild-mannered and slight of build, this telecommunications company executive is easily dismissed as the “phone guy.” But after four tours running ‘special operations’ missions in Iraq and the rugged mountains of Afghanistan as an Army Ranger and Delta Force commander, he’s one of the most lethal killers the US government ever produced.

A young Chinese American Captain’s family is under the gun and there’s little the Army or the FBI can do about it, when The Ghost gets the call, he and ‘Ace’ Randall don’t hesitate. Time to bring out the Barrett .50 caliber sniper rifles, turn The Geeks loose, and call in some Delta pals from Fort Bragg. This time, a possible world war is at stake in the South Pacific and it wouldn’t be fair to leave The Merry men out of the fun, would it?

They are great stories. All 14 books are now available in paperback, hardback, and audiobook, and I have two 3-book boxed sets of the novels available. That was one good result of Covid. Burke’s Revenge deals with an ISIS cell and middle-east terrorism attacking Fort Bragg. In Burke’s Samovar, the bad guys are the Russian mob in Brooklyn and in Moscow. And it Burke’s Mandarin it is Chinese espionage and mischief in the Souht China Sea. Bob Burke is a former Army Special Ops, Delta Force commander, and trouble keeps knocking on his door. Aim True, My Brothers, is a contemporary, American political action thriller, as Middle East terrorism explodes on American shores. Amongst My Enemies is about teh secrets and godl lying inside a rusting German U-boat on the bottom of the Baltic. Winner Lose All is about the scrable to grab the Nazi super weapons plans and engineers at the end of the war.
