“Brilliant, Meaningful Writing at its Best”
Five Star Review on Amazon by Mark Stone
This work of contemporary realistic fiction by Susan O’Byrne is nothing short of brilliant. Although the ten interwoven stories average less than 15 pages each, the characters of the suburban town of Whistler are so well-developed that readers can easily identify with them via the descriptive settings and situations Ms. O’Byrne has prepared for them.
Coffee Spoons And Other Stories focuses on the adult women of the town and how they function within their life’s roles; new mothers, old mothers, empty nesters, PTO volunteers, fitness obsessives, bored wives, et.al. Every community has them, and Ms. O’Byrne does a wonderful job of sharing their wants, needs, feelings, doubts, dreams, and fears by placing these not-always-so sympathetic characters in modern, real-world situations. Simply put, Susan O’Byrne says more on one page than many best-selling authors can accomplish over an entire book. Can’t beat that.
