Flip Flops, Fiestas, and Flamenco is the first in a series of three books about two best friends, their lives, loves, and adventures after moving to a small village in the Andalusian hills.
Abby and Lou have been BFFs since the first day at uni. Despite being opposites in both looks and personality, they were drawn to each other sharing a flat, dreams, and a love of animals. Through the years, despite personal losses and divorce, they remain as close as ever.
Abby would be the first to admit her life needs an injection of fun. Middle-aged, divorced, and slightly overweight, she’s mother/general dogsbody to two layabout sons, a pink-haired Amazonian on-off girlfriend, and Chester, an incorrigible British Bulldog. Her lifelong dream of living in Spain’s glorious sunshine has long been forgotten … or has it?
Lou is stuck in her own rut. Having never fully recovered from a tragedy in her past, a long list of online dating disasters has left her wondering if she will ever find love again. Her cool ice maiden persona is shattered – along with her cats’ eardrums – when she wins £400,000 on an online bingo site. Could this be the answer to both her and Abby’s prayers?
Flip-flops packed, the friends embark on their great adventure but it isn’t all sun and sangria. Warring pets, new neighbours, cooking experiments, scary wildlife, and Santos, an escapee donkey, all combine to make it an unforgettable summer. Can their friendship survive, or will the Mediterranean dream become a nightmare?
“ANDALUSIAN (MIS)ADVENTURES – FFF: CHORTLES, CARVE-UPS, AND CHUCKLES. A VERITABLE BUFFET OF BRILLIANT BUFFOONERY!”
Five Star Review on Amazon By Calla May Diamond
Flip-flops, Fiestas and Flamenco is an effervescent, eclectic smorgasbord of engaging, strong characters (human and animal), calamitous capers, bellyaching laughter, and a liberal dusting of heartwrenching moments. Well written and eminently readable, I found each page of the book delightfully engaging. The pace – flavoursome and spirited – never flags, the giggles keep on a comin’, and the descriptive content is wonderful; it was as if I were actually in the Andalusian hills. An absolute must read, this book definitely has the feel-good factor. As a tonic, or ‘just because’, dive into FFF, transport yourself to sunny climes, and meet the charming cast. You won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to discover what delights Book 2 of the Mediterranean dream series has in store. If it’s half as good as the first, count me in to be glued again.
