Amelia Spelled has had a bad week. Her boyfriend dumps her when she inadvertently gives him food poisoning. Her workplace, a telecommunications center, fires all their staff as they are outsourcing offshore, and she is evicted due to smoke damage resulting from her failed attempts at baking. Amelia thinks her luck has changed when she inherits her estranged aunt’s store, two mysterious cats, and beautiful Victorian house.

I love books about witches. I love books about small country towns. I love books about cakes. Why, hello, Kitchen Witch series. Nice to meet you. Oh, and there’s a mystery? Perfect.
This is the first book in another great series from Morgana Best. I stayed up far too late reading it, but it was definitely worth it. There is a great supporting cast of quirky and eccentric characters and a lovely sense of place in the novel. It makes me want to move back to the country!
I definitely recommend checking out this book if you’re a fan of cozy mysteries with a touch of the supernatural. Plus it involves baking and cats! (But not baking cats – that would be weird.

The first book in the Kitchen Witch mystery series by Morgana Best. It is such a fun read. It has humor, mystery, magic and a murder to solve. Great quirky characters in a fast moving plot. Perfect cozy mystery series.

There are colorful and mysterious characters that kept me wondering if they were friend or foe.
Amelia has had a stream of bad luck and she’s due for a break. But does she get one?
And who is that man out there in the dark? Why is he watching?
This is a wonderful cozy mystery with some goosebumps included!
Fantastic writer! There may be some murder, mystery and mayhem in these books, but there’s also a one liner that brings a smile or out loud chuckle as well.
A great beginning to what will be another hit by this author. If you like a humorous mystery then this is the place to start. It also has eccentric characters, baking, cats and even the hint of romance, what more could you want, oh yes, it’s also got witches! I loved reading it and I’m sure you will was well, I can’t wait to read more of the adventures of Amelia Spelled.
A very entertaining read. After a bad week, losing her job, boyfriend and getting evicted, Amelia thinks her luck is turning when she inherits a house and a bakery. Bad news again, she can’t bake and keeps setting the kitchen on fire! Then a customer dies in the store! She and her new friends set out to solve the mystery of the customers death before she loses all her customers. Oh, did I mention that she also learns that she is a witch?
