Mixed Nuts is a must-have story and resource about diversity and inclusion for our growing diverse world, helping children develop positive social attitudes, inclusion, and acceptance. Through the story, the characters ask children to be empathetic and to look at the world in a larger than me way. Unfamiliar characters help them to think about our differences and similarities. Children will learn to appreciate how we are better as a collective, to disengage from fear and engage with curiosity and kindness.

Five Star Review on Amazon by Aliwrites
Mixed Nuts is a sweet, engaging story, told in a way that is easily understandable for children of all ages. It conveys an important message of inclusion and diversity in a heartfelt and compelling style. Kids are never to young to learn about kindness and compassion, and this book is a great tool for introducing those concepts. I’m lucky to know the author, Mai-Lis Bahr – and this book is an extension of the way she lives her life. She doesn’t just espouse the ideas of acceptance and belonging in her book, but embodies those characteristics in her daily life. Her authenticity adds to the powerful message and appeal of Mixed Nuts.
About the Author
Mai-Lis Bahr is a resident of Charlotte, NC, where she embraces life with her husband, two children, and two dogs. While growing up in Saratoga Springs, NY, Mai-Lis used her imagination to take her places, as well as dream about the future – which she still does to this day. She has always loved reading, writing, and children. While tutoring for the Augustine Literacy Project, Mai-Lis met a little boy whom she had many conversations about diversity with, thus the inspiration for Mixed Nuts. Mai-Lis views storytelling as an art and a way to connect to one another. She finds fulfillment in publishing interviews with everyday people on her website, PeopleofCLT.com. Everyone has a story.
