Book Description:

Welcome to Monsterland—the scariest place on Earth.

Wyatt Baldwin’s senior year is not going well. His parents divorce, then his dad mysteriously dies. He’s not exactly comfortable with his new stepfather, Carter White, either. An ongoing debate with his best friends Melvin and Howard Drucker over which monster is superior has gotten stale. He’d much rather spend his days with beautiful and popular Jade. However, she’s dating the brash high-school quarterback Nolan, and Wyatt thinks he doesn’t stand a chance.

But everything changes when Wyatt and his friends are invited to attend the grand opening of Monsterland, a groundbreaking theme park where guests can interact with vampires in Vampire Village, be chased by werewolves on the River Run, and walk among the dead in Zombieville.

With real werewolves, vampires and zombies as the main attractions, what could possibly go wrong?

“Another true gem of dark fantasy action/adventure by a master of the genre, Michael Okon’s “Monsterland Reanimated” is unreservedly recommended for community library Contemporary Fantasy Fiction collections.” – Midwest Book Review

Michael Okon hits the trifecta in his new thriller, Monsterland: werewolves, zombies, and vampires. Alas, the latter also tend to get carried away at times, so yes, throw a little cannibalism into the mix, and voilà, you have the makings of a great read for any night except when the Moon is full! Then, better to leave the book closed lest . . . well, you get the picture. This novel takes you by the throat (pun intended) right from Page One, when you’re introduced to an unusual character by the name of “Billy”. Unfortunately for Billy and his friends, the Moon is full, and given there are others in the swamp—real human beings on the hunt—we’re off and running before we know it. The outcome isn’t pretty, but then, Okon isn’t here to hold your hand and make you feel good! It doesn’t take long before we’re introduced to the concept of Monsterland, which some in the book are more inclined to view as “containment camps” for freaks. Think Jurassic Park with apocalyptic inmates! Not satisfied with simply developing one such theme park, the partners envision building a number of these major attractions worldwide. Nevermind the fact that forcing werewolves, zombies, and vampires to interact with real human beings presents any number of problems, ethical and otherwise. But hey, why let such little things as ethics and life-threatening concerns stand in the way of making a buck, right? Is your heart strong enough to take it? Watch as the first Monsterland takes shape, the developing corporation having stocked it with bonafide monsters of every description. There’s nothing to do now but await the grand opening. Among the first visitors honored with invitations for the event are seniors from the local high school. As Okon asks: “What could possibly go wrong?” What, indeed?! I can’t, of course, tell you how this tale ends. To learn that, you’ll have to dive into the book itself. But I can assure you of this: you will not be disappointed. Nor will you sleep well at night for a while, either. But isn’t that the mark of a master storyteller! Hat’s off to Michael Okon and his latest masterpiece, Monsterland. Five STARS, all the way!

Wyatt Baldwin and friends are dying to go to the new theme-park Monsterland. Created by mogul Vincent Konrad, it was a solution to the growing problems related to monsters all over the world. Werewolves roamed in the Everglades, Vampires roamed the city-streets , and plague victims referred to as zombies need a place to be locked up for the safety of the world population. The good doctor has thought of a viable solution- lock them up and charge to see them. This will boost the sagging world economy as well as have a place where they can be researched. Sounds perfect? Wyatt and company go to the opening, only to discover that things are not what they seem. Something sinister is happening behind the scenes at the park Monsterland grabs you from page and and doesn't let go until the very last paragraph. It's as exciting as a Werewolf flume ride and thrilling as a vampire rock concert. Steeped with messages about politics of our times, human rights, and shameless corporate greed, Monsterland is a place that will draw you for a second look, to see what you missed the first time.
