In this memoir, author Tom Mach describes the events which later inspired him to write and later enjoy success as an award-winning novelist and poet, as well as a respected journalist, columnist, magazine editor and university instructor. Prior to those achievements, however, he experienced several hardships, such as being fired from several jobs(including that of editor of a new national publication), being conned by the owner of an oil-drilling scheme as well as by a business partner who stole money from an elderly woman, and being separated from his family for six months while he taught advertising at San Jose State.
Mach adds a touch of humor, such as being outraged by the doctor slapping his butt when he was born, or when he was told he’d never be a published writer by a person who never had anything published! Mach uses a conversational tone as he relates the peaks and valleys of his life and shares with the reader ten valuable insights he learned, both as a writer and as a human being.
Persistence, Then Peace is the most entertaining, honest, provocative, and thoughtful memoir you will ever read.
