“The book’s a hoot” Chris Tarrant…
“On first meeting Alan Wright he seemed very straight, almost dour… but I soon realised that he has a wonderful sense of humour and a mind as sharp as a tack. He is a brilliant award-winning speaker and writes superbly, yet he is as mad as a trumpet and silly as a duck.
John’s new-found and totally unexpected fame takes him all around the world meeting a motley crew all along the way. Laugh out loud scenes of which Tom Sharpe would have been proud – and thought-provoking too. Ranges from wisdom on the speaker’s art to a fierce romantic style; and from the ever so slightly sexist workmen’s club forty years ago to one of the strongest female characters I’ve read.
John’s climb to the heights from these tough but riotous beginnings and the absurd complications it brings to his life are as ridiculous as the author.”
