The storytelling is taught, the dangers seemingly around every corner... and yet we also get a few answers and a few lighter moments via flashback.
Book Description

Melissa Lawrence’s life had been planned out for her. As a wife in the upper echelon of New York society, she was expected to take her place among some of the wealthiest people in America. A society that judges you on your looks will ignore certain things because of the money your family possesses, which you will eventually inherit; however, certain peccadillos will never be acceptable, and as Melissa becomes Mel and begins to realize her potential, life sends her on a journey she never could have anticipated.

Like all the books by this author this story is wonderful. The woman who gets shanghaied is not one who falls in love with the captain. Instead she is a brawny woman who survives among the crewmen. You must read the book to find out how. I really enjoyed it!

I received this series as a gift, and I want to let you know that this is one for the ages. The settings are all described with such detail that you can smell the sea spray coming over the ship's bow. The characters are so rich and well thought out.
