When an innocent soul is accidentally sent to Hell, loved ones can hire a certain specialist to return the soul to Heaven Gate. However, if the specialist dies in Hell proper, his soul is trapped there for eternity. These specialists who risk eternal damnation are known as Soul Retrievers.
Getter has begun an assignment he takes personally, perhaps too personally: retrieve the soul of a ten-year old girl, the same age his own daughter would have been had she lived. This time, however, a strange plot is brewing behind the normal dangers of Hell. Retrievers are disappearing, including Getter’s brother-in-law, and an army is forming in secret. Teamed with Sneaker, a female Soul Retriever dealing with her new “Life” as a vampire, and an odd collection of Retrievers and souls, Getter only wants to finish his mission. But whispers of prophecy have told of a war between Satan and Mephisto, the Helland Security Chief, and have named Getter as a man with a destiny he does not want.
“One Hell of a Novel”
Five Star Review on Amazon By Keith English
In a world where souls are mistakenly sent to hell, someone must go to save them. This burden falls upon a scattered group of people called soul retrievers. David Burton’s book follows the adventure of Getter, a soul retriever on a mission through hell to save a little girl’s soul.
David creates a vivid picture of different layers of hell on Getter’s journey, as well as the many demons and perils that populate hell.
This action packed novel is a must read for fans of the supernatural. Prepare to be engrossed in this reimagining of Hell, as Getter’s mission turns into more than just a search and rescue.
About the Author
I was involuntarily retired from building and repairing boats and have temporarily swallowed the anchor. While working on sailing back into the sunset, (cliché’, sure, but that’s the direction I want to go) I write. Back in the day, after building my own sailboats, I sailed from California to Mexico, the South Pacific, Hawaii, Seattle, and through the Panama Canal to the Caribbean and Florida. I also rode a motorcycle to Alaska and Baja – before the roads were paved.
Many of my books involve water or sailing. Ancient Mariners(water and sailing)a YA and adult coming-of-age novel is now available.
I’ve had four novels published – “Manmade for Murder,” “Hell Cop,” “Blood Justice” and Blood on the Water.
“Down Home” is a new sci-fi, vampire mystery now available for down load.
“Hell Cop” and its sequel, “Hell Cop II: The Golden Palace” and a novella, “Hell Cop: Sneaker”, are available as Kindle e-books.
Thrillers – “Mapping the Glades”, and “Fear Killer” are also available.
“Blood Justice” is available in e-book, paper and hardback formats. Simone Gireaux is a character from “Blood Justice”. She is a 360 year-old vampire. The short story, “An Accidental Vampire”, tells how she became a vampire. “New Blood” is the beginning of her journey to survive and thrive. A novella, “Young Blood”, available soon, continues her journey. Additional stories will follow her through history until she meets Justine Kroft in “Blood Justice”.
I have also written several screenplays.
