On the night of October 11, 1981, David Parker and his wife Marie were driving their car in a torrential downpour, before what was supposed to be a romantic anniversary dinner. What lied ahead of them on the road was a fate that was far more twisted than the curvature of the asphalt.
Six years after that night, David awoke alone.
Across town, Catherine spends her nights dreaming of a better life. She is a young widow and her beauty is surpassed only by the sadness that overwhelms her. Love eludes her. Until she connects with a man whose voice fills her heart with its melancholy truths about life. It isn’t long before his spirit proves to embody everything that is good and pure and kind. David and Cat have yet to meet face to face. They fall in love over the airwaves, both having come in possession of a portable, two-way radio transceiver. One night, David asks, “Is it the flesh that we love or the soul of a person that attracts us to them?” Cat replies, “In death, true love is bound eternally outside the confines of the body, David. I already love you.”
Still, he must see her. If fate will allow it.
This is the story of David and Catherine’s love. A love so powerful that it is almost given voice. You can almost hear it – through the static.
“Static by Barbara Avon”
Five Star Review on Amazon by Colette A.
I just finished reading Static!!! OMG!!!! It is extraordinary!!! ❤ If someone were to ask what this book is really about, it’d be hard to explain in just one sentence. At it’s core it’s about a couple who are in an accident. But it’s so much more than that. It’s about relationships: romantic, fate, magic, love so powerful. Static is an amazing book, the one that makes you want to skip work or school so you can read another chapter.
Once you finish reading it, it leaves you devastated, in the best way of course. For this, I give it a +5 rating. ❤You are truly a genius!
About the Author
Why do I write? The answer is that I don’t want to live my life in the shadows. I want to leave a legacy behind. I want to entertain people and touch them in a way that stays with them. I want to change people’s perspective on love and on life. I write because the words are already inside of me and it’s my duty to share; because God has given me a gift that I will not take for granted. I write because I was born a writer. I am so blessed to have discovered who I am pretty early in life. I am blessed to have the opportunity to share. I look upon my books with a sense of pride and awe that: This is it. This is what I have dreamed of seeing my whole life. My name in print! My words forever etched upon paper and with the help of technology, those words will forever be available to all who seek them out or fall upon them by chance. I have a chance to reach people and give them insight into themselves; their loved ones and the world around them. This is what I’ve always wanted and this is the way it will always be until I am no longer around to use my digits to write – when my body is gone – the words will live on.
I am a wife, sister, daughter, an aunt and a friend. I am a lover of words and a firm believer that if you “lose your dreams, you might lose your mind.” (The Rolling Stones)
Follow your dreams and your heart will be abundant with love. It really is that simple. God Bless and thank you from the bottom of my heart for following me on this incredible journey.
