Short stories about a Border Terrier called Bertie who travels to France. He’s bred to hunt foxes and run with horses. He chases deer and rabbits amongst the vines. he wins his class at the Bordeaux International Dog show. He fights with French hunting dogs and becomes a champion mouse catcher. On his way back to the UK he gets stuck in Spain with the wrong stamp in his passport. Back in London Bertie makes friends with an urban fox who rescues Bertie and shows him the way home after he gets lost in Finsbury Park.

Got this for my Partner, as he loves these little dogs, and this was so touching, we both read it and cried, so touching, but that said some funny and heartwarming moments too.
About the Author
Avon Priestley was born near Stratford-on-Avon in 1948 where his father was a leading actor with The Royal Shakespeare Company. After working as a journalist in Australia and in Thailand Avon joined the BBC World Service in 1974. Later he was a foreign correspondent for The Observer and The Independent in Ethiopia and in Sri Lanka.
He has since been buying and selling houses in France mainly in the south west. He bought his latest house near Bergerac in the Dordogne four years ago.His collection of short stories – The Adventures of Bertie the Border Terrier – are recorded mainly in this part of France.
Avon is 65. Bertie is 5.
