The Girl in the Mirror is a gripping action adventure that twists and turns, and twists some more. Like Sophie Jennings, you won’t see the end coming…

“Fast-paced, Action-Paced YA Thriller”
Five Star Review on Amazon By Believer
“The Girl in the Mirror” blends science-fiction and adventure into an exciting, high-octane thriller that begins with an explosion in a biochemical laboratory and the escape of George Jennings, a bio-geneticist and his daughter from the fiery inferno.
Born in a test tube before being implanted into George’s wife’s uterus, Sophie Jennings is not only a marvel of genetic tinkering but the model for an invincible army of future soldiers. Endowed with exceptional strength, intelligence, endurance, longevity and a defect that that makes her invisible unless injected with an inhibitor, Sophie matures quickly and develops an insatiable appetite for knowledge.
On the run from Tom Kaplan’s corporate security team Sophie knows little of family warmth living separately from her mother and siblings. But when an unfortunate accident sends her brother to the hospital chaos breaks out as the hunters close in and Sophie has to use her all her skills to save her family from their pursuers.
Fast-paced, action-packed, the plot follows not only Sophie’s struggle to protect her siblings from their corporate enemy, but save her mother after she’s kidnapped by an adversary hungering for her father’s research. In a roller-coaster ride filled with twists and turns George Jennings mysterious past and duplicity as well as clues to Sophie’s parentage are revealed.
Philip J. Gould cleverly builds tension and suspense with a robbery, car chase, and Sophie’s grapples with enemies who want her captured or dead. Woven into a plot that includes a kidnapping, theft, murder and betrayal, there are strong elements of friendship, forgiveness and unconditional love in Sophie’s interaction with her sister Meredith, her mother’s appeal, and her father’s determination to keep her safe.
The characters are well-developed, complex and unforgettable, adding high-intensity and drama to this intoxicating page-turner. Sophie Jennings whose body develops faster than her brain absorbs information like a sponge. Lonely and isolated from human interaction except for the affection of her father, strong-willed and clever Sophie follows George to the family hideout where her first introduction to her sister is a ghostly appearance in a mirror. George Jennings the workaholic bio-geneticist lives a dual life while on the run from the dark, shady organization that wants their human weapon back. Wanted for espionage and murder George hides a mysterious past that endangers Sophie, his wife and his other children. Yet it’s the antagonists like Dominic Shilling, Tom Kaplan, and Samuel Jackson with their sinister plans and cold-heartedness that bring a chill to the story.
“The Girl in the Mirror” is a heart-stopping thriller that you can’t put down until finished. I loved it and can’t wait for a sequel.
