” Thoughtful Book on Successful Business Principles and Real-Life Examples “
Five Star Review on Amazon by E. Lucas
“The Modern Mughal Mentality” is a book for businesspeople and entrepreneurs that highlights strategies from India as a path to business success.
The book focuses at first on the attitude of “jugaad” (make do) and how that attitude slowly transformed into confidence and innovation as India began to experience more global partnerships and its marketplace began to grow; it then presents the “Jugaad Management Principle Business Model” and seven concepts to follow, either to apply in the Indian market or the American market as well.
I liked the passion with which this author writes; you can tell she’s excited about the potential of the Indian market and how to do business there, and thus the book comes across as both interesting and authoritative. Most valuable to me was that the author doesn’t just tell—she also shows, and uses a business success to illustrate each of her concepts (for instance, how Unilever created a detergent that required less rinsing since India has a clean water shortage). Her exploration of areas that have great potential for business success going forward is also a great way for the reader to spur independent thought how he or she can apply the principles already covered.
Recommended to those interested in doing business in the Indian marketplace/culture, as well as to those who are looking to give local businesses a successful edge.
