About the Author

Sophie A. Matthews is a current-serving officer in the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). She has policed the streets of London for the last decade, initially as a uniformed police officer on the frontline, and later on as a detective in CID. For the last five years, she has worked as a homicide detective on the well-respected Homicide and Serious Crime Command in London. This is Matthews’s first book, and she chose the subject of her policing career as her literal debut to highlight to the public just how much police officers give every day in the line of duty. She also wrote it to provide an insight for aspiring officers. Furthermore, she addresses the ever-challenging role of working as a female officer in a man’s world.
