Marriage, Malibu & Coffee

by Bridget Straub (Author)

Book Description:

Lori and Joel met on the set of Lori’s first film. He was the overly confident, good-looking assistant to the producer and Lori was the young, first time writer. Unlike most, including her older sister, Lisa, also working on the film, Lori was unimpressed by Joel. When later, during a chance meeting, her younger sister, Kelly, is introduced to Joel’s younger brother, Jesse, Lori and Joel are thrown together again. What begins with a one-night stand, quickly snowballs into an all-encompassing, whirlwind romance.
Thirty-two years and five kids later, Joel suddenly announces that he is leaving Lori for a woman younger than their first daughter. Stunned, heartbroken, angry and confused, Lori is left to navigate a new way of life, while at the same time dealing with one daughter’s upcoming wedding, another daughter’s pending divorce, and her youngest son’s desire to pursue a professional baseball career. Her best friend is constantly offering self-help books, and her younger sister wants to move in while she too tries to figure out her own marital situation and if she should reunite with Jesse, who just happens to be living in the guesthouse above Lori and Joel’s garage.
