This was an Inspiring, fascinating, and revealing piece of work. It was well thought out. It inspired me to look a little deeper into myself to determine my areas of purging, that I may continue to Thrive. It could be use as a guide of the whys and the hows we are to set our focus on the things above rather than those of a worldly society. This book showed me that underneath the hard demeanor of ours, this book guides us to a place to unearth the “hidden softer character”, that’s not always seen. What is surprisedly and more than “time consuming”, for each major topic, there was a Bible verse or passage that will give you a deeper understanding how your actions are connected to God’s plan for your life. In my review, I simply cannot convey the complete splendor and impact it had on your my life. There was so much I might have missed the first time around, I decided to read it again and it was the effort to me.

Dossie M. H. Terrell is a writer and a poet. She wrote “Purging to Thrive” at the urging of the Holy Spirit who awakened her one morning a few years back. He told her to write a book. She never doubted she could write such a book under His tutelage. His instructions were simple: write about Christian principles. What emerged as a thread throughout was this simple phrase: “Fear not.” Purging to Thrive inculcates biblical principles by gently coaching readers to step out of their comfort zone or stagnation, where fear often lurks, and discover their true selves. To do this they must first find their place in life before attempting to create lifelong visions and plans. Dossie urges readers to determine above all else what is going on inside themselves, which can only be accomplished by getting in touch with the Holy Spirit. He will teach them the “why” of external behaviors. Dossie believes information gleaned in Purging to Thrive and put to use through self-assessment and mindful living will help readers lead more godly lives and have greater control over their thoughts and actions. Dossie’s writing and career accomplishments have been: 1. Self-published a book of poetry, “Sincerely Yours.” 2. Wrote a book in verse, “Educating Pam.” 3. Wrote a winning story presented and narrated at the WildSound Festival: “Good Thing Come To Those Who Wait.” 4. Wrote for a community-based newspaper with 50,000+ subscribers that gave her a personal byline. Her assignments covered community events, which included the mayor’s state of the city address, the devastation caused by water shortages, and the local police department’s open house. She wrote about many other local events. Her life has been one of service. Her careers over the years were all in social service. Supervisor at Bay Area Social Security Administration offices, provided federal policy oversight over Temporary Assistance Needy Families in California, and Child Support Enforcement programs oversight in several Region IX states and the Navajo Nation. She graduated with a BA in Economics and Public Administration from Golden Gate University San Francisco, California.
